Optimise your eCommerce SEO with 5 Practical Tips
In this tutorial I show you how to optimise your eCommerce SEO with 5 practical tips that you can easily implement.
These SEO tips are suitable for anyone looking to increase their ranking in Google for their eCommerce product.
This will work for any eCommerce product, regardless of website platform.
Let's get straight into it - here are my top 5 tips to optimise your eCommerce Product SEO.
Tips to Optimise your eCommerce Product SEO
Write Perfect Meta Titles & Descriptions
This is the first thing you should always do- make sure you accurately tag your page title & description so Google understands what your page is about.
Here is a great example, you can see it includes:
Product Name
Product Description
Identifies an eCommerce shop
It includes it’s brand name
If you don’t get this right - no one will click on your product!
Content, Content, Content!
Now this is where people go wrong with SEO - they underestiate how much content you need on the page.
You must have bucket loads of content on your eCommerce product page!
This is the easiest way to increase your SEO ranking, simply write more content.
I like to think of as many FAQs relating to the product & then write content answering them.
This screenshot below shows you how much content I think you should be writing for each product on your eCommerce shop.
Photo Meta Data is Important
Photos & their meta data really matter. Google can't see photos, so they read the meta data to better understand what is included in your photos.
You essentially have two pieces of meta data you can control with photos:
The image title
The alt text
I recommend making sure these are accurately named with information that reflects your product.
Use Youtube / Videos to showcase your Product
Youtube is owned by Google, so it makes sense to cater to Youtube & Google.
By including a video on your eCommerce page, you show Google you're an expert.
Plus you get the added benefit of having Youtube also drive traffic to your video related to your eCommerce product.
If you scroll back up - you will see that eCommerce product had 2 Youtube videos attached in the description.
Internal Links help Google
Internal links are hyperlinks within your own website.
The reason they’re so important is, they’re how Google finds your content.
So make sure to link back to your product where possible.
I like to link from my blog articles, this helps show Google that your eCommerce products are relevant & not to be ignored.
